Peacock Family Services was founded in 2009 by a group of active family services professionals including pediatricians, family counselors, mid-wives, parents, and professionals who saw a need on Bainbridge Island for something different.
Our vision is to create an early childhood center where programs embody the highest level of learning and care based on the latest in developmental research, and to offer a variety of care options to meet the needs of working families.
Together with our early childhood programs, our founders envisioned a space where family services and support live under the same roof, providing a much needed family services hub for the greater community.
Research has shown that supportive care for families promotes positive connections between youth and their caregivers. A combination of child care and family support is recommended by current social policy initiatives and is an integral component of Peacock Family Services.
As a family support center, we seek to offer support to families through each developmental milestone – from pregnancy through early elementary school with services such as:
- Birthing Families: Education for Healthy Pregnancy, Birth, & Beyond
- Bringing Baby Home
- Developmental Screening
- Grandparents Class
- In-Home Lactation Consulting
- La Leche League Weekly
- Parent Play & Education Evenings
- PEPS Group for Fathers & Mothers
- Pregnancy & Postpartum Support
- Counseling for Pregnancy & Postpartum Depression
- PrepPare: A Prenatal Parenting & Pregnancy Workshop
- Resource Library & Referral
- Whole Birth™ Prenatal Yoga
As a newer non-profit organization, Peacock Family Services has varied in the levels of family support services offered as we stabilize the organization and prioritize community needs but our mission and dedication to the vision for Peacock Family Services remains strong.
