A Group for Dads

It takes a village to raise a child—or to survive being a parent!  Whether you are a stay-at-home dad or not, it can be difficult to build your village—especially with other dads.   Jeremy Mays, MS, of Collaborative Family Therapy, is offering a group designed to help dads build positive and supportive relationships with each other.  In this group, we will discuss topics of interest and share challenges, stories and ideas.
Facilitated by Jeremy Mays, MS.  Jeremy is a therapist in private practice on Bainbridge Island.  He received his Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from Seattle Pacific University and is an associate member of AAMFT.  Jeremy has a special affinity for dad's seeking support.  Before his children reached school age he was a stay-at-home dad who often found it difficult to connect with other dads.  Jeremy enjoys facilitating groups and he appreciates their strength to build real and lasting supportive peer relationships.

First and Fourth Tuesday evenings 6:30-8:00 pm
Cost:  $20

For more information and to register, please contact Jeremy Mays at (206) 713-7402

Peacock Family Center Grandparents Class

While grandparents already know a great deal about babies and parenting, they are often surprised by the current practices today.  This two-part grandparenting series is designed for the grandparent who wants to know current parenting practices and wants to learn skills that promote positive relationships with their adult children and their grandchildren.

The Early Grandparenting class covers the current trends in maternity care and newborn care. Participants learn information about breastfeeding, soothing, and meeting the needs of a newborn.  There is also time to discuss what the Grandparents role might be during the birth process and how they can support the new parents during the transition to parenthood.

The second class, Grandparenting Overtime, focuses on providing grandparents with skills to work through conflicts and build relationships with their adult children and grandchildren. Additionally, there is time for group discussion on how grandparents can stay connected to their long distance grandchildren.

Facilitated by Rosalys Peel, RN  Rosalys (pronounced Rose Alice) has over 20 years of experience as a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator.  She teaches classes at Swedish Medical Center and The Manor Farm Inn.  She has taught the Grandparents class at Swedish Medical Center for the past 8 years.  Working with John Gottman, she helped to create the Bringing Baby Home Program.
Offered quarterly
Fee: $30 for one class (individual or couple), $45.00 for series

To register, please contact Rosalys by phone (206) 842-8059 or email Rosalys@bainbridge.net
